Sea wave necklace with amber and diamonds

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

Amber is fossilized tree resin, usually derived from conifers. Its unique colour and natural beauty have been valued since ancient times. Homer praised its beautiful radiance, the Greeks called it an electron, and the Egyptians buried it in the tombs of the Pharaohs.

Amber is a fossil resin mainly derived from conifers.

Today, amber is valued not only for its beauty. It is also a kind of time capsule which gives an insight into prehistoric ecosystems. Some types of amber can be found in soil, while others, displaced by sea currents, are thrown loosely onto the Baltic coast. That is why Poland, Germany and Russia are still major suppliers of amber.

Bespoke design of amber necklace.

The amber used for this design was provided by the customer. Its irregular shape lent itself to become a design for a necklace symbolising its Baltic origin. Each link in the necklace is in the shape of a breaking sea wave with a small diamond in its crest. The whole piece was made in 14k yellow gold.
