Bitcoin was created in 2008, shortly after the US financial crisis. The developers of Bitcoin are an individual or group operating under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Nakamoto published the concept of a blockchain-based cryptocurrency that enables secure and decentralised transactions. In January 2009, the first Bitcoin network was launched. The technology also enabled users to generate currency through a process known as 'digging'. Bitcoin became the pioneering cryptocurrency, paving the way for the development of an entire industry.
This form of digital asset allows value to be stored and funds to be transferred without the intermediation of financial institutions. This means there is no oversight of where the funds come from or what they are used for. It is now easy and legal to acquire Bitcoin and many see this digital currency as a form of investment, hoping for potential returns in the long term.
The following ring was created for such crypto investors. With such clients in mind, I have enabled payments in digital currencies. The emblem is a Bitcoin sign with an image of the blockchain network. It resembles a roulette wheel, symbolising great profits and the risks involved. Below this, as if from a slot machine in a casino, gold banknotes fall out. The sides of the ring are additionally decorated with the letter B. The entire piece is set in solid yellow gold.
